Combo Diamond
|
This Block is made by combining all the things you have learned from
the earlier patterns. You combine the half block, half triangle, with quater
triangles. Great looking block, looks harder than it is. Follow the instructions
and you should have no problems, and end up with a beautiful block. This
block is called "Combo Diamond", "Card", "Diamonds
4 Ever" and several other names.
As always the colors we use makes it easier to see the fabric cuts and
shapes. Your colors are your choice, you can even change the background
white with a different color or print also. Don't make the quilt too busy
to draw the attention away from the block pattern.
Material needed:
White
two - 4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square
one - 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square
Brown
one - 4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square
one - 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square
Blue
one - 4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square
one - 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square
Yellow
one - 4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square
one - 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square
Green
one - 4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square
one - 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square
When making this block, it is very important to match the colors
and squares exactly as shown.
Cut each of the 4 7/8" squares diagonally
into two triangles each.
Then sew a white triangle to each of the color triangles to form four squares.
|
 |
Now cut all your 5 1/4" squares into quarter triangles.
Sew one each of the color quarter triangles to each other as shown.
Then sew those two triangles together to form a square. |

|
Sew your white quarter triangles to ONE
each of your color squares.
As shown. You will have two quarter triangles of each color left
over.
Sew these to your remaining half triangles to form a square. As shown. |

 |
Place the squares as shown in the diagram.
Sew the squares into 3 strips. and you have the finished block
With a block that has alot of seams, it is reccommended that you press
the block.
The seams may not lay flat and give you the 12", which will give you
problems
later when you piece the quilt.
As stated earlier this block can be done with different colors, prints,
and background color. The block is your basic 9-square pattern just
with different cuts.
Hope you enjoyed it. |
